We are delighted to present the RAI FILM Lifetime Achievement 2021 Award to Professor André Singer OBE. His remarkable work as a documentary film director, producer, commissioning editor over the course of five decades deserves the highest recognition. He has been at the forefront creating an alliance between anthropology and the documentary film industry.
To celebrate this occasion we are again partnering with the University of Bristol and their George Brandt Lecture, which was first established to commemorate the founder of Film and Television at the university. This event takes the form of a conversation between Singer and Angela Piccini (Department of Film and Television, University of Bristol).
They will discuss Singer’s long career from his days studying with Edward Evans-Pritchard at Oxford to his prolific partnership with Werner Herzog. Woven throughout the conversation will be clips to help tell the story of how Singer forged a powerful and lasting union between anthropology and documentary.
A live Q&A with André Singer will take place on Zoom 19-28 March. Please check the full schedule of live events and links to join here.
