A Shepherd

1h 10m Documentary 2024

Félix, a young, melancholic, secretive shepherd, leads a life out of time. He lives alone and works with his father to raise the family herd. From autumn to spring, he looks after his animals, feeds and guards them in the bare mountains of the French Alps. In the summer, he leaves his father to lead the herd to the mountain pastures, for more than two hundred kilometres on foot. He lives far from everything, there for long months, in a mineral and inaccessible world where an invisible being prowls: the wolf. Against the tide of his time, Félix has chosen a profession that isolates him and keeps him out of the world. Still, he accepts the company of a curious filmmaker who tries to understand what his solitude is made of. A melancholic ode that ponders upon the phrase homo homini lupus, only to conclude that a human can also become a lamb that takes away the sins of this world.
